The passion for Arabian horses started in 1987 with the acquisition of the pure
bred Arabian mare Calypta (Varallo x Rapello HT) of Russian & Crabbet bloodlines. She
was bred to a variety of stallions of which Rifala, a daughter by the Crabbet stallion
Sheer Insouciance was retained. Rifala was joined in 2002 by La Mirage (Salaa El Dine x
Bint Mangani), a pure bred Arabian stallion of exceptional type and bloodlines. Her
daughter El-Jahrousse is still at the stud..
In 2004 Schabaka was acquired, an asil Arabian
mare of straight Egyptian bloodlines and was joined the following year by her dam, the
Madkour I daughter Salome XI and the Kaisoon/Mahomed grandson Vashara Chamal. These
straight Egyptians bear no ressemblence to the small delicate show puppets as often
straight Egyptian bloodlines are considered but big sized, bold moving athletes.Their son
Kadir has been retained as potential stud.
For 2011 we're hoping for a filly by La Mirage
out of Nigellah, a stunning mare by the underestimated Azrah (Nazim/Aswan x
Chimaera/Silver Scenario) out of the Arabica bred Jasmin (Veteran/Mashuk x
Dalia/Numizmat). Her sire not only produced the fabulous Nepal, a proven 120-km endurance
horse but a winner at the European championships and she's out the famous Arabica stud
most treasured damline.
Because the passion had grown into a small
enterprise, the horses were incorporated and a farm in the beautiful countryside near the
Velpe-Mene nature reserve was acquired. Only 20 minutes from Brussel, the location is
ideal to welcome international visitors that often land in Brussels to start their
European journey. The farm has the facilities for outside mares and is located nearby a
reputed freezing and AI station. The breeding program focuses on breeding functional
Arabian horses true to type, decent height, ground covering movements, correct
conformation and the power to use their natural grace and balance - athletes all the way! |
